Who we are
All-Star Guides was created by Edgar Guerreiro, a self-proclaimed “citizen of the world”.
Edgar came to Edinburgh to perform in the Fringe Festival in 2012, fell in love with the city and never left. A life-long entertainer, as he learned more about the city and its history, he figured it would be a good idea to combine his passion with his love for the city, and decided to become a tour guide.
Now a long-time resident of Edinburgh, he created All-Star Guides to ensure that visitors in Edinburgh receive the same warm welcome that he was so fortunate to get.
THE HARD SELL
Why choose All-Star Guides and not a free walking tour, for example?
Well, to put it simply, “free” isn’t free. You’ll either spend your time listening to how much you have to “tip your guide” at the end, or go through an infomercial-style presentation about other products you probably don’t really care for. That is, if your tour runs in the first place, as minimum numbers are required, and you may end up wasting your time waiting for something that won’t happen.
Besides, that whole model puts all the pressure on the guides themselves, who still have to pay their company regardless of being paid. We work with the best, and think they deserve proper compensation for their skills.
However, we at All-Star Guides honestly believe that the access to information shouldn’t be conditioned by the thickness of your wallet. So, if you can’t afford our services, contact us, and we’ll book you in one of our tours, no questions asked. It will be our gift to you.
